Something Old, Something Passed Down: Ariana + Jakub’s Indianapolis Wedding

Some wedding details are chosen during planning. Others have been part of the family for generations.

For Ariana + Jakub, traditional Jewish prayer shawls passed down through both of their families made their ceremony especially personal. Hanging from their chuppah, the shawls connected the couple to generations of family history as they exchanged vows.

A Meaningful Moment Under the Chuppah

Before the ceremony, Ariana + Jakub signed their ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage document, surrounded by close friends and family.

Their outdoor ceremony featured a chuppah with white florals and greenery, incorporating prayer shawls from both families. Standing beneath it became the couple’s favorite memory of the day.

“Standing under the chuppah together was a very powerful and spiritual moment,” they shared. “We were continuing a time-honored practice that our ancestors performed during their weddings.”

The experience had them reflecting on their own family histories and the traditions they would carry forward.

Burgundy, Blooms and a Few Unexpected Details

Deep burgundy flowers added contrast to a predominantly white and green palette, while patterned china, petite table lamps and gold flatware gave the reception tables a collected, layered look. Rentals from Ace Party Rental and linens from LGi Linens helped bring the design together, with Sterler Productions providing the lighting.

Ariana wore a strapless gown with a structured bodice and softly draped skirt, paired with a bouquet of white blooms, burgundy calla lilies and trailing amaranthus. Jakub wore a black tuxedo, with wedding jewelry from Barrington Jewels adding another personal detail.

A green escort card display and a cake piled with fresh berries carried the color palette into other corners of the reception. Antique Limousine of Indianapolis provided transportation for the day.

Behind the scenes, Monica Richard of Mon Amie Events handled planning and design. The couple credited Monica with making the process far less overwhelming, taking a long list of decisions and turning them into manageable choices that still reflected what they wanted.

“She so clearly understood how we pictured our day and executed it in ways we could have never even imagined,” they shared.

What They Took Away From Planning

For Ariana + Jakub, the planning process also brought a little perspective.

“We learned that the little things are often what make the biggest memories.”

With so many decisions to make, they found that what mattered most was creating a day that felt true to them and sharing it with the people they love.

And looking back, it’s fitting that their favorite memory wasn’t a detail they had to choose at all, but a tradition their families had passed down to them.
