Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Indiana, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

This month, we’re featuring Kayli + Max’s moody ballroom wedding.

There’s something so cool about a wedding that leans into the dark, quiet corners of a venue. Kayli and Max traded the typical look for a warm glow that made the ballroom feel like a hidden club.

The aesthetic was all about the mix of styles. They kept things classic with black-tie attire and then threw in a checkered dance floor to give the room a modern, party-ready look.

The Wedding Day

We are still thinking about the textures from this day. Kayli’s gown felt romantic with its lace detailing that brought a necessary softness to the black-tie dress code, and then there was the cake—a vintage-style design by Top Tier Cakes featuring delicate piping and turned their initials into a custom monogram detail.“Kayli and Max had a unique vision of a grand, vintage design with a custom crest hand-piped on the center tier,” says Jenna, the owner of Top Tier Cakes. While the cake was finished with a tall, elegant topper, they also included “a replica of their cat at the base for an adorable personal touch!”

The process of planning a wedding is a lot, but doing it during baseball season is a whole other level of chaos. Kayli mentioned that having a pro in their corner was the only way they survived the stress: “With baseball season being so hectic and all over the place, it totally took the stress off of us to have such an incredible wedding planner.”

Their Favorite Moment

Even with the huge guest list and the constant energy of the night, the part that stuck with them most was a quiet moment at the very end.

“Probably stepping away from the dance floor right at the end of the night with Max and looking out at all of those who gathered to celebrate our marriage. In that moment, we were able to soak it all in and literally looked at each other and said, ‘we did it!’”
