The Wedding Celebration

Annie and John didn’t want a wedding that felt like a wedding — at least not the stiff, over-planned kind. They wanted something that felt like home. Which makes sense, because home is kind of their whole story. John grew up in Zionsville, Annie in Carmel, and when it came time to plan their day, staying close to their roots wasn’t even a question.

“When we saw the venue, it was a breath of fresh air,” they shared. “It felt like finding a place we both loved so much.”

That feeling carried through the whole day. The tented reception space was filled with soft garden florals — blush, peach, lavender, ivory — with sweeping drapery and glowing chandeliers that felt grand and intimate at the same time. The details were thoughtful without being overdone: ornate welcome signage, guest parasols, tablescapes that felt lush and layered but never fussy.

Annie glowed in an off-the-shoulder gown with delicate appliqué. John matched her perfectly in a white dinner jacket and black bow tie — timeless and confident. Her bridesmaids wore dreamy dusty blue Jenny Yoo gowns from Bella Bridesmaids — each in their own silhouette, from off-the-shoulder to spaghetti strap — carrying airy pastel bouquets that tied the whole look together beautifully.

From the custom bar details to the sculptural cake and sunset portraits along the water, every moment felt intentional — rooted in tradition but distinctly their own.

For accommodations, they chose Hotel Carmichael — a natural fit. With its European-inspired charm and walkable Carmel location, it gave family and friends traveling in the perfect home base for the weekend.

Camden Claire Films was there throughout, capturing the movement and emotion of the day with a presence that was subtle yet intentional — allowing Annie and John to be fully present while making sure every detail would be remembered. They put it best: “What stood out most about Annie and John’s wedding was the seamless fusion of luxury and intentionality. It was a black-tie affair in the truest sense, where every detail was curated for maximum impact. As videographers, we were inspired not only by the couple’s effortless, ‘silver screen’ chemistry but also by the incredible caliber of the vendor team. It takes a village to pull off a production this sophisticated, and the result was nothing short of breathtaking.”

Annie is the first to say that planning wasn’t always easy. “Planning a wedding is stressful and managing family dynamics is hard,” she said, “but with the right person you feel supported the whole way through.” That sense of partnership was visible in every part of the day.

A Favorite Moment

For all the beauty of the reception, Annie and John’s most treasured memory happened before any of the guests arrived.

“Our first look and private vows,” they said. “Only our photographers and videographers were present to capture it, but it felt like we were the only people in the world.”

Just the two of them. No guests, no timeline pressures — just a chance to be vulnerable and grounded before stepping into the celebration.

“It was so special to have one private moment to be completely vulnerable with each other on the most important day of our lives.”

That quiet moment set the tone for everything that followed. And as the evening ended beneath the glow of chandeliers and the Indiana sky, it was clear — the most beautiful detail of the day wasn’t the florals or the design. It was the steady partnership that carried them through every step, from planning to vows to forever.
