For Mary and Max, planning their wedding was never about checking boxes—it was about staying grounded in why they were celebrating in the first place.

Throughout the planning process, they learned how important it was to refocus on the meaning behind the day. With so many decisions to make, it could sometimes feel overwhelming, but recentering on their love and the people closest to them brought the magic back into every detail. That mindset shaped a wedding that felt deeply personal, intentional, and entirely their own—making it a natural choice for the 2026 Cover Wedding of the Wed Society® | Indianapolis Book of Weddings.

That connection was felt not only by their guests but by the creatives who captured the day.

Captured beautifully by Megan Noll Photography, Mary and Max’s wedding was documented with an effortless, honest perspective. As Megan shared, “Mary and Max have such an ease about them. You can tell that they genuinely feel most like themselves when they are together, and that type of chemistry is a photographer’s dream.”

A Thoughtfully Curated Setting

Set at the iconic Hotel Carmichael, Mary and Max’s celebration blended refined elegance with custom design elements that elevated the entire experience.

With the help of Mon Amie Events, Mary and Max built a trusted team of creatives who brought their vision to life, thoughtfully blending personal details, family traditions, and effortless execution throughout the day.

Romantic florals by Elsie’s Flower Shoppe framed the celebration, blending soft pastels with lush greenery to create a design that felt both elevated and personal. As owner Lori Christy shared, “When a bride trusts the process—and embraces color—the design tells a story all on its own.” The floral design did just that, setting the tone for a day that felt thoughtful, expressive, and entirely Mary and Max.

That same sense of individuality carried through to the bridal party, where bridesmaids selected their own dresses. Among them was a soft Whisper Blue moment in the Jenny Yoo Simona dress from Bella Bridesmaids Indianapolis—an easy, tiered silhouette that blended effortlessly into the day’s overall look.

Custom décor and rentals by Ace Party Rental played a key role in shaping the experience, including a candy cart designed specifically for Mary and Max—one that held special meaning for the couple.

As Austin shared, “We love a good surprise for the bride and groom. It’s made even more special when the surprise is rooted in family history and meaning—it makes that unexpected memory that much sweeter.”

The cart went through several iterations before the final reveal, with thoughtful details like matching the roof trim to the original See’s Candy storefront awning and carefully scaled striping to ensure the couple would instantly recognize it as their own See’s Candy Cart when it came into view.

Family Woven Into Every Detail

Family was at the heart of Mary and Max’s wedding day.

Their ceremony was officiated by Max’s uncle, Kevin Sullivan—on the same date he married his wife, Ann, 29 years earlier—adding a meaningful layer of legacy to the moment. Mary honored generations of family through heirloom details, including her grandmother’s silver hairpin and her great-grandmother’s handkerchief. Her great-aunt, Barbara Flaherty, needlepointed the ring pillow, and a traditional Italian wedding cake paid tribute to Mary’s Italian heritage.

Mary’s emerald cut diamond ring and wedding band came from Barrington Jewels, while Max wore an Ike Behar Braydon shawl lapel tuxedo from Louie’s Tux Shop, styled with matching slim-fit trousers, a black bow tie, and an ivory pocket square.

A Moment That Captured It All

One of Mary and Max’s favorite moments came just after the ceremony. Newly married, they stepped up to their suite and looked down from the balcony at all of their family and friends gathered below to celebrate them. It was a quiet, surreal pause—intimate, emotional, and unforgettable.

A True Cover-Worthy Celebration

With its blend of intentional planning, family traditions, and beautifully curated design, Mary and Max’s wedding perfectly reflects what the 2026 Wed Society® | Indianapolis Book of Weddings Cover Wedding represents. More than a stunning event, it was a celebration of authenticity, love, meaning, and community—one they will carry with them forever
