For Ali, the museum was a sanctuary long before it was a wedding venue. Having spent her teenage years studying and sketching in these galleries, her marriage to Nick felt like a homecoming—a living painting brought to life through deeply personal curation.
The Vision
The aesthetic direction, led by Monica Richard of Mon Amie Events, focused on intentionality. Drawing inspiration from the couple’s shared Dutch heritage and their life in NYC, the palette favored depth over tradition: deep berry tones, dusty greens, and antique golds.
The ceremony featured a textural chuppah draped in trailing vines and garden roses, while the aisle was punctuated by architectural palms and air plants—a nod to the couple’s own plant-filled apartment.
“Ali and Nick’s wedding was filled with moments of thoughtful design and intention,” says Monica. “I loved helping them curate these moments for their guests. Everything from creating their custom branding using blooms from their heritage, to selecting paintings from Newfields for their guests as escort cards, to the now iconic ‘plant store,’ offered perfect glimpses into who Ali and Nick are as a couple: thoughtful, generous and philanthropic. It was an honor to be included in their day.”
The Design & Execution
To bring this vision to life, Mon Amie Events coordinated a professional team to manage the intricate logistics of a museum-scale celebration. Transportation services were provided by Antique Limousine of Indianapolis, ensuring a seamless flow for the day’s events.
The reception’s high-design aesthetic was achieved through a curated selection of decor and rentals from Ace Party Rentals, LGi Linens, and Violet Vintage Rentals. Together, these vendors provided the structural and decorative elements—from the linens to the furniture—that transformed the garden grounds into a sophisticated dining experience.
A Grounded Foundation
The architecture of the evening was anchored by pieces from Ace Party Rentals, who provided a clean, modern canvas for the couple’s story. Sleek white bars with custom vinyl wraps and minimalist shelving gave the space a polished feel, while the use of their Farm Tables for the plant station and King’s Tables for the reception brought a sense of communal warmth to the grand setting. To frame the night, soft ivory drapes were placed behind the band and food stations, creating a cozy, tucked-in atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
The Art of the Table
For the tablescape, the focus was on the quiet interaction between light and texture. To create a luxurious contrast against the soft linens, the LGi team featured Klasik Gold Flatware. The polished, slim silhouette of the gold cutlery added a sophisticated pop of warmth against the museum’s stone architecture and the pressed table settings.
“For Alexandra and Nicholas, we wanted to create a tactile experience that felt both timeless and modern,” says Vaso Mikic of LGi Linens. “By layering the sleek, structured lines of our Klasik Gold Flatware over an ethereal, light-filled linen foundation, we were able to achieve a look that was uniquely sophisticated and perfectly suited for the grandeur of Newfields.”
Lounge Moments
To make the expansive garden feel more intimate, Violet Vintage Rentals provided curated lounge vignettes where guests could gather. They used a pair of modern, pale pink Rosani Sofas to bring a soft touch of color to the greenery, paired with the white Nathalie and Silverlake coffee tables. The Winter Side Table, with its ornate blue trim, added a small, detailed element that complemented the fine-art aesthetic of the day.
The “Plant Store” Finale
The standout moment? The “shopping” experience. In a tribute to the couple’s love for greenery, a custom plant station allowed guests to select a living plant to take home—ensuring the memory of the day would literally continue to grow.
Instead of standard paper goods, guests found miniature art prints hand-selected by the couple as escort cards. It was a day that proved when you lead with intention, the result isn’t just a wedding—it’s a legacy.
