A Table for Two at The Fourth Floor

Claire and Walter didn’t just bring their guests to Indianapolis for a wedding. They made a weekend of it, with a reception inspired by where they first met and an Indy 500 Sunday that had been years in the making.

The Fourth Floor

Claire and Walter know weddings from the other side. They live in Florida, where Claire works as a venue coordinator and Walter as a chef for a venue, so they came into their own weekend with a clear point of view.

For Saturday at The Montage, a sailcloth tent was high on Claire’s list, along with an ethereal ceremony centered around a cross. Satin & Stems took on the planning, design, and florals, including one detail that made the reception unmistakably theirs.

The tent became The Fourth Floor, named after the place where Claire and Walter first met. Guests arrived at a host stand, gave their last name for their “reservation” and were escorted to their tables by staff, turning the reception into their own restaurant for the night.

Violet Vintage Rentals provided the chairs and lounge furniture, while Ace Party Rental handled the draping, stage, bar, and lighting. Confectioneiress created the cake, and Lauren Peterson Photography photographed the day.

There was another personal detail waiting inside. Before the wedding, guests were asked to submit a favorite recipe through the couple’s wedding website. Claire and Walter compiled them into a cookbook, then had everyone sign beside their own recipe. Instead of a traditional guest book, they ended up with a collection of recipes and notes from the people who were there.

Sunday at the Speedway

The Indy 500 wasn’t simply something to do the next day. It had history for Claire and Walter.

While they were dating and Walter was recovering from an accident, the two spent time watching IndyCar races together. It became their thing, and attending the Indianapolis 500 eventually became part of what they wanted their wedding weekend to include.

After a Friday welcome dinner at Sun King Brewery and Saturday’s wedding at The Montage, the majority of their guests joined them at the track on Sunday. Antique Limousine of Indianapolis provided transportation.

And one last detail: Claire and Walter won the group pot after picking the winning car.

Pretty good way to close out a wedding weekend.
