Vows That Wow — Kishan & Michael

Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

This month, we’re featuring Kishan and Michael’s iconic wedding.

The Wedding Day

When it comes to planning, the single biggest lesson was trusting the experts. Monica from Mon Amie Events takes on just eight weddings a year to stay entirely hands-on. Even with seven events packed into a tight nine-week window, her approach meant Kishan and Michael felt like her only priority. Monica took their vision and brought the entire weekend to life, handling every moving piece so the couple could actually enjoy it.

The newly renovated spaces at their downtown hotel venue gave the team a natural starting point for a design that felt tailored, moody, and quietly masculine. A custom stationery suite set the tone early, laying the groundwork for a rich color palette.

“We built the color story directly from the room itself,” Monica explains. “Deep emeralds and rich spruce velvets anchored the space, balanced by soft blush florals and gold accents that pulled directly from the coloring in the carpet.”

To pull off the design, Ace Party Rentals supplied a massive lineup of custom builds and design elements. They created a custom favor wall complete with integrated plants, anchored the room with custom spruce velvet drapes, and set up both square and kings tables, including custom dark green tables printed with gold patterning. For seating and lounge areas, they brought in clear Phoenix chairs, curved couches, gold coffee tables, and a white scalloped loveseat. The tablescapes were built out with glass henna chargers, Lily coupe dishware, gold flatware, black B&B plates, and white serving bowls.

The favor wall ended up being one of the most talked-about spots of the night. As former state champion tennis players and marathon runners, Kishan and Michael stocked the display with custom tennis balls, golf balls, and water bottles so guests could choose their own take-home gift. In a surprise detail coordinated with their mothers, the wall was also lined with childhood sports photos, trophies, and medals, sending guests hunting for themselves in old team photos all evening.

Top Tier Cakes delivered a multi-tiered cake wrapped in intricate paisley textures and rich green accents, while Stacy Able Photography documented the entire day, capturing every detail and reaction as it played out.

As Monica reflects on the experience:

“The design was so authentically them, and our team loved every minute of bringing their story to life. When a couple and their families trust you so completely, and welcome you in so warmly, it creates an incredible atmosphere for the whole creative team. They were truly an unforgettable family to work with.”

Their Favorite Memory

Hands down, the Baraat. Wanting to center Kishan’s Indian heritage, they adapted the traditional procession to fit both grooms—resulting in a street takeover featuring two horses, which isn’t something you see every day in downtown Indianapolis. Having their entire wedding party and family dancing through the streets while people on surrounding patios and rooftops cheered along was easily the peak of the weekend, and the memory both grooms point to first.

As Kishan reflects:

“I think our consensus favorite part of the wedding was by far the Baraat, with our whole wedding parading down the streets of downtown Indy dancing to Indian music and celebrating. It was truly surreal. Even almost a year later, that memory still makes us feel giddy!”

Photographer Stacy Able felt that energy firsthand:

“Where do I even begin with the joy of capturing Kishan and Michael’s wedding? The color, energy, incredible vibes, and warmth from both families were absolutely infectious. Kishan’s mom even lent us colorful lehengas, which made joining the baraat that much more fun. With so many meaningful cultural elements unfolding throughout the day, I found myself right in the middle of it all, moving between crowds, dancing, and celebration to make sure none of the color, energy, or emotion was missed.

One of my favorite moments came while waiting on South Meridian Street for the baraat to arrive. Monica had told me this was ‘the shot,’ and she was absolutely right. Watching Kishan and Michael cross the street on horseback, surrounded by a circle of dancing friends and family, with downtown Indianapolis as the backdrop… Even the bystanders had stopped to dance and capture videos of the celebration.

I found myself nearly in happy tears, which for me takes quite a bit. There was simply so much love surrounding these two throughout the entire day. It was an absolute joy and privilege to be there, immersed in the celebration and documenting it as it unfolded.”
