The Case for Black and White at Hotel Carmichael
The black details started showing up early.
They appeared in the invitation suite, beside pearl-covered flats during detail photos, and kept popping up throughout the day.
Hotel Carmichael already has plenty of character with its crystal chandeliers, ornate ceilings, and gold accents. The black-and-white palette didn’t compete with any of it. If anything, it made those details even more noticeable.
Kolbie spent the morning getting ready in one of Hotel Carmichael’s suites before stepping into an off-the-shoulder gown from Marie Gabriel Couture Bridal.
Between the balconies, the staircases, and old-world details, it was hard to imagine a better setting.
Guests walked into a ceremony filled with baby’s breath and candlelight, with a black aisle runner leading to the altar. The black runner kept the space from feeling overly soft and gave the ceremony a little more edge.
Cocktail hour had one of the most personal details of the day.
His signature drink was an Old Fashioned. Hers was an Aperol Spritz. And the crowd favorite? A margarita named after the maid of honor and best man who introduced them in the first place.
The same black-and-white details showed up again at the reception. LGI Linens added texture to the tables, while the hotel’s gold chairs and candlelight kept the room warm instead of stark.
Black tie. Candlelight. A margarita named after the friends who started it all.
It felt like Kolbie and Jeremy.
