Vows That Wow — Sophia & Jack

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Indiana, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

This month, we’re featuring Sophia & Jack’s Luxe Hotel Wedding.

Most couples match a historic venue with traditional white roses. Sophia and Jack went a different route, using a palette of purple, blue, green, and soft peach to bring a fresh garden vibe indoors. Working with planner and designer Emily Ventura and photographer Lauren Peterson, they designed a look that is easy to save for your own mood board. While the aesthetics were incredible, Sophia notes that the design was meant to serve a deeper purpose: “There’s so much pressure to make everything look perfect, and I’m incredibly grateful for the beautiful wedding we had because it made what we were celebrating feel even more magical. But one thing I really learned through all of it is that the wedding should highlight the love you have for one another, not the other way around.”

THE WEDDING DAY

The color story began with the stationery by Twin Sisters Designs, featuring clean white invite cards with dusty blue script and inner envelopes lined in a watercolor iris print. For the ceremony, Wedding Florals by Patty skipped the traditional altar arch, building low, lush floral hedges along the aisle filled with hydrangeas, delphiniums, and purple blooms. Arranged symmetrically alongside rows of golden Chiavari chairs from Ace Party Rental under massive crystal chandeliers, the setup perfectly framed the vow exchange. Those same gold chairs were used for the reception, where Ace Party Rental also provided the linens and chargers to ground the floral designs. Patty completed the look by providing all the lamps, candles, and stands as part of her floral service, layering in the perfect warm glow. Sophia’s bridal style brought another layer of beautiful texture to the day, featuring a gown with a lace-up corset back, off-the-shoulder tulle sleeves, and a high lace choker. To finish the look, she carried a chic, monochrome bouquet of peach tulips that added a perfect touch of soft warmth.

THEIR FAVORITE MOMENT

As Sophia recalls: “My favorite memory was during the first look with Jack, when I saw him for the very first time on our wedding day. It was such an emotional and grounding moment, just the two of us seeing each other in that space. I’ll never forget how it felt in that instant, truly one of the most special moments of the entire day. Oh, and of course, seeing my dog, Pocket, who briefly attended it, made me so happy.”

Another unforgettable moment on the dance floor honored Sophia’s family heritage. “My grandmother is Colombian and immigrated here as a teenager, so Colombian culture has always been such a meaningful part of our family,” Sophia shares. “One thing we did to honor that heritage during the wedding was play a cumbia song, and I got to dance with my 88-year-old Abuelita to one of her favorite songs. It ended up being one of the most special and emotional moments of the entire day for me, a moment I know I’ll cherish forever.”

IN THEIR WORDS: THE CREATIVE TEAM

Sophia also shared how meaningful it was to work with their creative team: “This is such a difficult question because I genuinely loved working with everyone. I honestly can’t choose a single favorite vendor because I formed real connections with each of them, and it would feel like trying to pick a favorite person in a family. Emily would be first because of how much care, effort, and intention she put into bringing everything together and making the entire experience feel so seamless and supported. Patty is also incredibly special to me because of the florals, which were absolutely stunning, but also because we discovered a personal connection we didn’t know about beforehand. She knew my late father, which made working with her feel unexpectedly meaningful in a way I will always remember. And Lauren Peterson is hands down one of the best photographers ever. Her presence, talent, and ability to capture everything so beautifully made her unforgettable as well. She just made me feel so beautiful. So I suppose the honest answer is that I can’t pick just one, because every single one of them played such an important role in making the day what it was.”

That level of dedication went both ways. Looking back on how it all came together, Emily shares: “Sophia and Jack trusted me with their entire wedding, and I made sure that trust was never misplaced. While they experienced every magical moment as it unfolded, I was working behind the scenes to elevate every detail before it ever reached them. Through our collaboration and deep exploration of their vision, I was able to craft something far beyond what they imagined, because that’s what I do. Their perfect day didn’t just happen. I built it.”

Lauren loved capturing that energy from behind the lens, too. “Sophia and Jack have such a sweet energy between them!” Lauren says. “Despite an uncommonly cold and windy April day in Indy, their excitement to be married kept us in awe, and the Omni provided the perfect backdrop for indoor portraits. The floral arrangements really brought the feeling of lush gardens indoors, achieving the regal traditional feel Sophia wanted for their day. Like most of my clients, they placed a lot of importance on authentic ‘in the moment’ imagery between them and their guests, and they made my job easy by being fully present together all day!”

OUR FAVORITE DETAILS

To make the grand room feel intimate, Emily Ventura skipped harsh overhead lights and styled the centerpieces with small table lamps featuring micro-pleated shades to create a soft, low-glow ambiance. This curated styling carried all the way to the bar top, where guests ordered from a menu featuring a custom watercolor illustration of the couple’s signature Blackberry Vodka Mule. Pocket also made a high-profile appearance for portraits, completely nailing the black-tie dress code in a tailored custom tuxedo. Finally, Lauren Peterson captured the late-night energy with candid photography, moving effortlessly from laughing table-side candids to the couple’s first dance under the ballroom chandeliers.

REFLECTING ON WHAT MATTERS MOST

Looking back on the entire experience, Sophia shares some beautiful wisdom on what she learned from planning her wedding. “You realize two things after planning a wedding: first, just how much time, money, and energy goes into it, and second, how easy it is to become consumed with making every little detail perfect,” she says. “But honestly, what made it the most special to me had nothing to do with any of that.”

“The most meaningful part was getting to share Jackson and my relationship with the people we love most, celebrating not just us, but all the bonds we’ve built with our friends, our families, and each other’s families over the years,” Sophia reflects. “Having everyone we love together in one place felt incredibly rare and meaningful, and I will never stop being grateful that we got to experience that. It was such a beautiful reminder of how supported and loved we are, and that feeling meant more than anything else ever could. That’s what truly made it unforgettable.”

For couples currently in the thick of planning, Sophia reminds them to keep perspective on what truly makes a wedding day extraordinary. “We could do it all over again. We could spend more money or do things differently, but at the end of the day, the dollar amount really doesn’t matter. You could have almost nothing, and it could still feel just as special because that isn’t what makes a wedding meaningful. What made ours feel so extraordinary was simply having all of our favorite people there beside us, celebrating our love and pouring so much kindness, joy, and support into the day. I feel deeply thankful for every single person who showed up for us and made the entire experience feel so full of love.”
